Juan Ignacio Marco Requena is a Viola player and Pianist from Spain. He attended Chetham’s School of Music for three years where he studied with Graham Oppenheimer (Viola) and Jonathan Middleton (Piano) before gaining a place at the Royal College of Music where he continued his viola studies with Jonathan Barritt and piano with Kathron Sturrock.
Juan Ignacio has appeared as a soloist with ensembles such as Villena’s Symphony Orchestra, Caudete’s Chamber Orchestra and Chetham’s Baroque Orchestra amongst others. Furthermore, he has had the pleasure of receiving masterclasses from leading soloists in the world such as Isabel Villanueva, Jennifer Stumm, Maxim Rysanov and Tatjiana Masurenko amongst others.
Having been part of the orchestral world from a young age, he started to lead the viola section of Elche’s University Symphony Orchestra at age 14 and then went on to play in orchestras around Spain and the UK including Alicante’s Youth Orchestra, National Youth String Orhestra, Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra, RCM’s both Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestras and Enselmble Casa Mediterraneo. Moreover, he has had the pleasure of recording for film composers and classical recording labels in famous venues as are the Angel Studios London and Abbey Road Studios.
Currently, Juan Ignacio is a teacher around London at the North London Conservatoire, Beethoven Music School and Enhui Music as well as teaching at the Music Departments at Buxlow Prep and Brighton College Prep Kensington. He is also a member of the Rythmico Tutors team.
